About You

You will leverage from your previous experience in similar positions and industries to drive innovation and challenge the status quo across the Support Services team. To instil a culture of compliance, operational excellence, customer service, and continuous improvement across the Justice and Immigration business. You are an expert in risk mitigation to ensure senior level operational risk relevant to Immigration and Justice are identified and adequately managed. You demonstrate integrity in all that you do, with a strong alignment to Serco's Values of Trust, Care, Innovation and Pride.

 

About the role

Our Justice and Immigration business unit provides essential services across the justice and immigration system. As a leading provider of immigration services. Our services include managing detention centres, transporting and escorting people locally, domestically, and internationally, and providing support services for people while their immigration status is being resolved with government immigration departments. While our Justice services support community safety and reduce reoffending.

We are currently seeking an experienced and innovative leader to join our team as Operations Director, Support Services. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, Justice and Immigration, you will be a part of the Business Unit Executive Team and will be responsible for providing overall leadership and strategic management of all Facility Services, Hospitality and Garrison Services, Contract Performance, Operational Assurance, Integrity and Probity, and all Operational Support Services across both Justice and Immigration.

 

To be successful in this role, you will have:

 

  • The highest levels of personal integrity and ethical behaviour.

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and Post-Graduate studies in relevant field.

  • At least 10 years' experience in an equivalent Senior Management position.

  • At least 20 years' experience in Immigration or justice or related industry.

  • Demonstrated track records in delivering excellence in the services industry specialising in Business to Government.

  • Senior Management experience obtained within a relevant operational services organisation.

  • Exceptional leaderships skills with the ability to build mutually beneficial relationships with all stakeholders, particularly with diverse teams in challenging environments.

  • Extensive operational experience and knowledge in Immigration/Corrections/Justice industry and or a similar related environment.

  • Superior stakeholder management skills that enable the successful influence and negotiation with internal and external counterparts.

  • Superior negotiation skills and the adaptability to engage and influence others.

  • High level if resilience and the ability to remain level-headed and objective in high stress situations.

  • A strong understanding in the management of media and external scrutiny.
