Payroll Transactions Team Lead

Solihull Office and Home Based 
Up to £40,000 per annum dependant on experience


Here at Serco, we are seeking an experienced Payroll Transactions Lead to provide day to day operational management and leadership to the one of the Transactions team to ensure that all staff are paid on time, statutory requirements are met, and team members are supported and developed with appropriate coaching and training to deliver standardised best practice processes.  The Team Leader will also support the Service Delivery Manager with planning and implementing longer term strategic goals.

As part of this you'll:

-    Leading and Managing Team Members to ensure overall team objectives are met.
-    Actively Develop Team Member capabilities in line with service objectives and set clear expectations of performance with regular review meeting.
-    Foster a culture of openness and honesty challenging inappropriate behaviour from others.
-    Support payroll manager to ensure that all payrolls are delivered in accordance with payroll calendars and are legislatively compliant.
-    Monitoring that all statutory returns and payments to third parties are paid accurately and on-time.
-    Ensure employee overpayments and returned payments are recovered and paid in a timely manner.
-    Ensure the team provide a quality customer service, including interacting with customers, answering customer enquiries, and effectively handling customer complaints.
-    Work as part of the wider HR to drive and deliver People Services initiatives.


What you'll need to do the role

Firstly, to be successful in the Payroll Transaction Team Lead role you will need to have an in-depth knowledge of payroll processes and procedures in a similar sized organisation. You will have an understanding of payroll legislation and feel comfortable motivating and encouraging other team members. You will be confident using the Microsoft Suite, specifically Word and Excel. You will be able to work to deadlines and meet performance targets. Lastly, you will deliver a customer focussed service and pride yourself on creating and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.
