PMO Officer-Transition and Transformation

To lead the delivery of an accurate, effective coordination and reporting service for all projects supporting the CIIS business unit. Provide support and guidance to Project Managers to ensure adherence to delivery and quality standards.  Reports on delivery performance of consistent and successful projects in line with project proposals, acceptance criteria and contractual KPIs and PIs.


Specific duties and responsibilities include:

  • To be a member of the Project Management Office and support all stages of its life in accordance with the Serco Management System and client Programme governance arrangements.  
    • To provide leadership and direction to the programmes and projects at all stages of its life including management and direction of a PMO and programme team.
    • Providing expert programme advice to Project Managers and Portfolio Managers who are accountable for the programme on how best to deliver its objectives.
    • To oversee the day-to-day operational delivery of the programme, including day-to-day budget management for capital and revenue programmes.  


   Key accountabilities

  • Specific responsibility for the realisation of associated benefits, assessment and management of risks, and development of effective delivery plans and activities.
    • Develop and implement the actions and activities necessary to address any problems and failings in the Programme and Project to ensure they do not damage the chance of success.
    • Management of KPI's adhering to deadlines and keeping the Programmes on track to meet the KPI's, making quick reactive solution where this is at risk and prevent it from failing.
    • To develop new and innovative solutions, not only to address problems, but to prevent them occurring in the first place.
    • To apply  robust and effective project and programme management disciplines, ensuring compliance with corporate requirements and practices, to maintain effective control of the programme, ensuring costs and timescales are managed and monitored, and that this is easily demonstrated to senior managers and stakeholders.
    • To provide Quality Assurance over all major project deliverables and to have personal accountability for ensuring they are fit for purpose.
    • To support the PMO Lead in leading the development of processes, templates and policies where appropriate - aligning to existing and other corporate PMO.



Whilst the primary base for this role will be either Hertford, Lincoln or Peterborough there is a requirement to provide the right resources flexibly across Strategic Partnerships and therefore the ability to travel to and/or work remotely from other sites as required is essential
