What you will do...
The Gaming Admin squad is responsible for our next-generation product
administration application. Think of it a bit like a CMS, but with some
really cool GraphQL introspection stuff going on that allows the application
to auto-generate user interfaces based on upstream services owned by
Unlike many of our delivery squads, your customers are internal
colleagues rather than members of the public, but needless to say that
their needs are every bit as important! Your job is to make our operational
team's roles as easy as possible through providing a really slick product
with a great user experience, and you get to do that by being close to the
end-user and owning the entire stack end-to-end.
As a Principal Engineer you'll be leading the way with the latest
technologies, which for us currently include:
- Go and GraphQL for our API backends
- Docker to containerise them
- Jenkins to build them
- AWS andKubernetes to host them
- Grafana and Prometheus to monitor them
It's quite OK if some of the above is new to you, so long as you have an
appetite and energy for imparting what you know, and learning what you
An important element of this role is that it comes with line management
responsibilities. We find that, whilst management isn't for everyone,
technical people value reasonably technical managers. The Principal
Engineers in our teams get to know their engineers well and so are often
best placed to provide that strong guidance.
You're not alone in this, however! The Engineering Manager to whom you
report will be available to support you in not only your own development
but in your support of others, and we have wider "guilds" that work as
manager support groups, a dedicated "People Experience" team to refer
to, and strong on-going training for managers.
What we can offer you...
We really care about your professional development. As a member of a
technical team, you'll get 10% of your working week to dedicate to self-
directed learning and development. You'll also have £1,000 per year in a
Ninja fund to supply you with resources, whether that be a conference
ticket or an AWS exam, we've got it covered.
