What is the purpose of the role?
You will be working as part of the Thermal Hydrolysis team in a very "hands-on" role. As the Thermal Hydrolysis Plant (THP) Technician, reporting to the Site Performance Manager, you will be responsible for carrying out the operation and front line maintenance functions on the sludge treatment process. You will gather data, propose optimisation changes and perform statutory and regulatory checks to ensure the plant remains compliant with Thames and regulatory standards.

With this exciting opportunity you'll operate and carry out sampling and monitoring on a challenging, but critical sludge treatment plant. The plant operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The plant includes THP, combined heat and power (CHP) units, steam boilers and associated plant, sludge dewatering plant, sludge digestion and biogas production. You will be part of highly skilled, enthusiastic, fun team. You will gain experience on a wide range of plants and equipment from old to innovative investments providing exciting new experiences.
What will this role involve?
This process technician role will involve but not be limited to:
Sampling, testing, basic proactive maintenance and fault-finding of the plant and equipment whilst suggesting optimal methods of working and operating.
The monitoring, collating and reporting of data to ensure statutory and regulatory compliance is met.
Working according to good housekeeping procedures and health & safety regulations by maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
Taking personal responsibility for health and safety of self and colleagues.
What are we looking for?
Can you demonstrate flexibility, initiative, attention to detail, a proactive ability and willingness to learn? If so, this may be the ideal role for you. We are seeking an engaged individual who has an interest of working in waste treatment processes, sludge treatment or a power generation environment. As well as this, you must be prepared to be trained in safety procedures and technical and processes related to the plant. You must have basic literacy and numeracy skills, some computer data input or enquiry experience is desirable, but not essential. Ideal applicants will have a process background in an industrial or similar setting. Due to the nature of the role a valid UK driving licence is essential.
Thames Water information and salary details
This role is site based, working out of Beckton sewage treatment works in Essex. We are offering a starting salary of up to £30,360 depending on experience and qualifications.
