The Production Test Technician will be based at our subcontractor site and be responsible for ensuring that the products are assembled, tested and programmed in accordance with the requirements, but also work hands-on on the programming of newly produced equipment. Moreover, you will support New Product Introduction and product transfer, handling communication and feedback to our manufacturing engineers.

Responsibilities:

  • Support engineers with the collation and review of KPI data (Yield, OTD).
  • Regular review that contractors are working to the agreed manufacturing instructions.
  • Conduct start up and shut down security procedures.
  • Host external visits where required.
  • Provide on-site supervision to ensure that subcontractors are complying with all flow down requirements.
  • Perform goods out inspection on behalf of the Viasat Quality Manager.
  • Monitor that the subcontractor is complying with the security aspects letters at all times.
  • Collation and review of 'as built' records.
  • Perform Viasat controlled aspects of assembly and test.
  • Supervise and aid debug of product and programs.
  • Assist in the creation of test fixtures for use with ICT systems.
  • Ensure that the assembly area operates a clear desk policy and has a high standard of housekeeping.

Experience needed:

  • Electronics technician experience with at least 2 years of experience and a relevant qualification
  • Experience with power supply's and Multimeters within a test environment
  • Able to read circuit diagrams to assist with unit fault finding.
  • Experience with soldering in accordance with IPC standards.

Desirable:

  • Comfortable with the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Reliable and willing to offer some flexibility.
  • Experience in the Defence / Aerospace or safety regulated environment would be advantageous.

Important: Must have sole British Nationality (due to UK eyes-only projects), and have, or be capable of obtaining, UK security clearance (SC)
