About You

You are a reflective, flexible and passionate Programme Facilitator driven to motivate and encourage the men in our care to take responsibility for their offending as a pathway to their rehabilitation.  

You are comfortable with the idea of working in an all-male prison where the men come from all walks of life.  You are in possession of a personal set of values and attitudes toward prisoners, which will be expressed as role-model behaviour for the men in the prison.

As a role model, you view prisoners as capable of reintegration and rehabilitation, and are professional, diligent and resilient in all areas of work and life.  You are innovative and creative, and enthusiastic about making a difference in the lives of others. 

 

 

About the Role

Reporting to the Manager of Programmes and Interventions, you will be working as part of a passionate and dedicated team.  You will be responsible for the planning, preparing and delivering rehabilitative programmes to male prisoners, with an emphasis on better outcomes for Māori. 

This role will require you to be a highly organised professional who maintains the vision and mission of the organisation. Working within a secure facility you will need to uphold the standards and obligations to comply with NZ Workplace Health and Safety Regulations, Serco policies, procedures and instructions, to ensure a safe workplace for you and your colleagues.

The additional purpose of a Programme Facilitator is to work collaboratively with your team to deliver effective programmes at Kohuora by acting as a pro-social role model, demonstrating solution focused thinking, and engaging in professional supervision to grow your practise. This role offers a starting salary of $75,600 with the potential for progression over time through a competency frame work.

 

 

To be successful in this role, you will have:

 

  • Formal qualifications in psychology, counselling, psychotherapy, criminology, social work or other related studies . Adult learning training or facilitation is an advantage
  • Experience delivering group programmes/interventions, being certified to deliver Department of Corrections rehabilitation programmes is an advantage
  • A proven track record of planning and preparing programme sessions and monitoring progress to enable optimal participation and effective learning to the men in our care
  • An ability to collaborate with colleagues, particularly in the areas of programme delivery, case management and custodial services.
  • The ability to demonstrate the highest levels of personal integrity, ethical behaviour, learning quickly and being open to reflective practise and receiving feedback
  • Experience in confidently and professionally networking both internally and externally
  • A commitment to better outcomes for Māori and an appreciation for the partnership principles in the te Tiriti o Waitangi

Serco opened Kohuora ASCF in Wiri, South Auckland in 2015, extending its portfolio in Asia Pacific.
