Apprenticeship working hours: 08:00-16:30 Mon-Fri
Key Purpose
To complete an approved apprenticeship with the aim of carrying out preventative and reactive maintenance activities to various items of plant, fixtures & fittings, and other facilities across site
1. To be able to documentarily support his/her work.
2. Must comply with requirements of the college and submit work on time.
3. Attend the approved training centre on time and when required.
4. When not attending college, they will attend the workplace to gain valuable hands on experience, working alongside fully qualified trade's people.
5. During time spent in the workplace they will work under direction from a qualified person.
6. When in the workplace they will gather evidence of their training: written notes & documents, witness statements, testimonials and photographs. 7. Will work towards achieving a recognised City & Guilds Qualification.
8. Maintain knowledge of current and new legislation.
9. Assist in the development of innovative ways of working using skills learnt as part of the apprenticeship.
10. Maintain records of tools and spares and report this as required.
Essential technical and professional skills, knowledge and qualifications
Satisfactory completion of spatial awareness, colour blindness and hearing tests. Full training will be given but a qualification in numeracy, literacy and science of Grade C/equivalent or above would be required. If this has not been achieved, Key Skills would be added as part of the apprenticeship and under successful completion apprenticeship would commence.
Additional / special features of the role
To be a team member of the Facilities "Out of Hours" call out roster once trained to a competent level in temporary fix solutions. To work on hot and cold water and heating systems under supervision and as part of progression/training. Fault finding and rectification of hot and cold water and heating systems under supervision and as part of progression/training. Further qualifications can be offered in the role of AP for various disciplines if suitable competences can be demonstrated.
