Shift Patterns: 2 week rolling rota-

 

Week 1 - Monday & Tuesday (7am-5pm) Saturday & Sunday (7am-3pm)

Week 2 - Wednesday, Thursday & Friday (7am-5pm)

 

Rate of Pay: NHS band 3 (agenda for change)

 

 

Here at Serco, We are recruiting for a Retail Catering Supervisor to join us at James Cook University Hospital. The Retail Catering Department is responsible for a total meal service and hospitality services within James Cook Hospital Middlesbrough.  It provides catering on a breakfast, lunch, and snack service 365/7 days per year. It provides a staff and visitor restaurant as well as a coffee shop and a variety of vending and hospitality options during contracted hours. The retail supervisor is responsible for supervision and guidance of a group of staff to always ensure high quality service delivery along with the highest possible product and presentation standard.

 

The key purpose of the role is to co-ordinate an efficient catering team to maintain a clean, safe working environment adhering to health and safety working practises and food hygiene regulations assisting in the delivery of all catering services to patients, staff, and visitors within James Cook Hospital. This job is based in the Restaurant and the Coffee Shop

 

 

Main Accountabilities:

 

  • Compliance with Food Safety Management System at all times.
  • Ensure service critical tasks are completed on time daily
  • Supervision, allocation, direction, and monitoring of catering assistants
  • Stock Control
  • Assist in arranging duty rotas, annual leave, and sickness cover
  • Assist in the development of departmental procedures and protocols.
  • Compile and maintain work schedules
  • Comply with departmental policies and procedures to provide an effective and efficient service.
  • Report faults and hazards
  • Ensure goods are stored correctly and stock is used on a rotational basis.
  • Ensure strict hygiene standards are maintained in line with Food Hygiene Regulations
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety Regulations
  • Participate in recruitment, training, absent management, and personal development of Catering Assistants
  • Reconciling of cash takings from Restaurant & Coffee Shop in accordance with departmental procedures.
  • Participate in implementation of Serco Policies and Procedures
  • Occasionally required to conduct investigatory interviews and/or disciplinary hearings.
  • Being department designate in managers absence.
  • Follow reasonable Line Managers Request's

What you'll need to do the role:

 

  • Supervising other staff, monitoring work standards and team working essential.
  • Institute of Leadership and Management, level 2 (ILM) desirable
  • Level 3 Food Hygiene Certificate desirable
  • Good communication skills including a good telephone manner
  • Excellent customer care skills
  • Knowledge of working with chemicals for cleaning / COSSH awareness
  • Previous fast paced catering experience
  • HACCP
  • COSHH
  • Fire Safety
