Evening Chef job
Location: Oxfordshire
Salary: £16-£18 per hour
Hours: 12:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. ( Monday to Friday)
Contract: 44 weeks (term-time) or 52 weeks (full year)
About the Role
A local private school in Oxfordshire is seeking a skilled and motivated Evening Chef to join its catering team. Working closely with the Head Chef, the Evening Chef will be responsible for preparing and serving high-quality, nutritious meals during the afternoon and evening service, while ensuring the highest standards of food preparation, presentation, and hygiene are maintained.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepares and serves evening meals for pupils and staff.
- Supports the Head Chef in menu planning and daily operations.
- Supervises kitchen staff during the evening shift.
- Ensures compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health & safety regulations.
- Manages stock levels and assists with ordering.
- Caters for special dietary requirements and school events.
Candidate Profile
- Possesses previous experience as a Chef or Sous Chef, ideally in a school, hospitality, or catering environment.
- Demonstrates passion for producing fresh, healthy, and balanced meals.
- Exhibits strong organizational and communication skills.
- Holds knowledge of food safety standards and allergen management.
- Shows ability to work independently during evening service.
- Is reliable, flexible, and committed to maintaining high standards.
Contract Options
- 44 weeks (term-time): Ideal for candidates seeking school holidays off.
- 52 weeks (full year): Suitable for candidates seeking year-round employment.
