Self-lay field engineer

What is the purpose of this role?

The Field engineer is responsible for providing customer facing field activities to support the delivery to the self lay providers. Acting as the company face of Thames Water you will be expected to be providing excellent customer service to our customers and external contractors.

What makes this role unique?

This is a hands on role covering a wide and varied number of activities. You will be looking after a number of sites at any one time ensuring our customers are given first class service and our service provider to deliver a programme on time while also manage a customer experience expected from a company like Thames Water.

What will this role involve?

This role will involve: Be a contact point for the self lay providers and be able to support them in delivering the source of water connection including pre site connections.

Audit site to post site connections to ensure all works have been carried out to NJUG specification including site walk off.

Responsible for "as laid" drawings to be sent to GIS for update.

Carrying out field surveys for connections and mains in accordance with KPI's, ensuring that accurate and sufficiently detailed information is supplied to allow designs to be created with zero variations.

Rectify and problem solve any on site issue with, customers and self lay providers.

Carrying out water regulations inspections and ensuring water quality standards are met.

Attending site and assisting with the delivery of connections, traffic management meetings, mains shuts, meter investigations, rectifications and council liaising.

Working with the project manager to ensure we meet the expectations of the self lay companies.

Audit Health and Safety monitoring in the field and promoting Health and Safety at all opportunities.

What are we looking for?

We are ideally looking for someone with traffic management, water regulations, knowledge of main laying and water networks experience. Knowledge of Developer Services and self lay organisations would be an advantage. Relevant technical qualifications are highly advantageous but not essential. A working knowledge of the clean water network would be desirable, particularly Health & Safety and Streetworks standards. You will have a knowledge of NRSWA / TMA and pipe-laying/pipeline construction or some background in the plumbing industry ideally. In addition, you will need excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal. As this is a field based role a valid driving licence is essential as you will be required to travel to multiple locations

Thames Water information and salary details

This is a mobile field based role which requires engineers to be within the Thames Valley area and travel to any depot or office in the region as necessary. We are offering a salary of up to £30,000 depending on skills and experience.
