Job Description

Working as part of an established team within the A350 department. This role is semi-skilled and will undertake a variety of activities focused on full assembly/build of aircraft component which also includes environmental sealing and limited testing of product.

On the job training will be provided. You will also have the opportunity to undertake NVQ Level 2 educational training, with a view to further development to undertake and/or complete an NVQ 3 in the relevant subjects and Skilled Operator status

Role Specific

Will include but is not limited to:

  • Reporting directly to the section Flow Leader, you will participate within a team and work with functional specialists (such as engineering, Quality, etc) to ensure production requirements are achieved safely, on time and to the customer specifications
  • Read and follow work instructions, specifications and part drawings (accessed via PC)
  • Read and interpret engineering data, technical drawings, specifications, repair schemes, Manufacturing Procedures (MPs) and other approved maintenance data
  • Accurately complete work route cards to maintain component traceability
  • Operate under own initiative and work with minimal supervision

A350 Assembly focus

  • Measuring and marking out of materials to carry out close tolerance hand fitting processes
  • Application of assembly and strip down techniques of mechanical permanent fasteners which may include electrical bonding checks
  • Sealing and jointing techniques for environmental protection painting, sealing and alocrome of aircraft structures

Requirements

  • Good numeracy and literacy - Minimum 2 GCSEs at grade 4/C or equivalent in English and Maths Good IT skills
  • Good attention to detail, planning and problem-solving skills
  • Strong work ethic supported by a real positive attitude to succeed
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Demonstrate the currency and competency of the key skill codes required within department Shift working required
  • There are certain aspects of this role that require mechanical / manual lifting of parts so some lifting will be required and you must be capable of undertaking activities with appropriate assistance if required.

Desirable Qualifications / Experience

  • Previous experience of manufacture or engineering working environment
  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in a relevant subject
  • Working understanding of the 5 S and lean principles

Security Clearance

Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance is required
