Here at Serco, we are looking for an experienced Additional Learning Support Tutor to join us at HMP Dovegate - a Category B adult male facility near Uttoxeter, Staffordshire where we care for up to 1160 male adult prisoners over the age of 21 serving a range of sentences including trial, remand, those awaiting sentence and convicted men serving long and short term sentences.
Joining our committed Education Team, the purpose of this role is to assess students' skills to determine their needs and to develop teaching plans - this will incorporate planning, organising and assigning activities that are specific to each student's abilities. You will teach and mentor students as a class, in small groups, and one-on-one and also supervise and mentor teachers and teaching assistants who work with students with disabilities.
You will assist the management team in the delivery of an education provision which increases employability, reduces the likelihood of reoffending and prepares prisoners for a successful return to the community.
This role contributes enormously to the important work of reintegrating offenders back into society.
What you'll need to do the role
This is in an exciting opportunity for an individual who has a teaching qualification, A Level 4 Award in Education and Training (QCF)/Certificate in Education/PGCE to join our team and make a difference to prisoner's lives.
It is essential that you are qualified to Level 4 SEN or above and highly advantageous if you hold the Assessor Practising Certificate (APC).
