Location: To cover sites in Central/North England, from Sleaford to Newcastle.

VIVO have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Engineer to join our friendly and successful team, covering sites from Sleaford to Newcastle.


This is a key role required to support the contractual deliverables on the sites you have been appointed to manage.  It is a role that requires the individual to be proactive and forward thinking to ensure that the Client is supported effectively in engineering and technical services issues, and to manage effectively and efficiently the SSoW and ensure it is delivered in a timely manner.


This role will see you define the extent of the systems and installations for which Authorised Persons (APs) are responsible for, issue audit summary reports and action plans, notify DIO of any defects or operational restrictions issued by others, agree with DIO any departures from JSP375, carry out site visits and risk assessments and advise on the requirements of JSP in relation to the introduction of additional works/project.


You will also act as part of the commissioning team for substantial additional works/project, carry out an annual reviews of the Safe Systems of Work and Authorised Persons, advise, where practicable project management and the local client on professional matters in the discipline, contribute, where practicable, to DIO project teams on matters related to existing installations and their interaction with new works, ensure compliance and adherence of with Health, Safety, and Sustainability, and investigate dangerous occurrences and accidents which occur while a permit to work is in force, report findings.


As part of your team responsibilities, you will work in conjunction with the Area Managers select suitable candidates to become APs, initiate training to ensure sufficient APs for the systems and installations, assess and recommend in writing the competence of APs for initial and continuing appointment in accordance with JSP 375, audit and review each APs operational experience at six-monthly intervals before re-appointment and at other times as necessary, as well as maintain a register of all APs with their training records and areas of responsibility.


Candidates can be based anywhere in the region, although it is preferred that you live around the Lincolnshire area so that you can easily commute to sites. 



What You Need To Do The Job


First and foremost, you should hold a HNC level qualification in Mechanical (Boilers & Pressure Systems) or HVAC or Mechanical Building Services or a related discipline, be registered as a Chartered Engineer or Incorporated Engineer or Professional Health and Safety Practitioner with experience in the appropriate discipline, and have excellent knowledge of DIO's Joint Service Publications and Technical Standards.


You will be required to have experience in managing the operational delivery of JSP375, the ability to solve problems and make decisions and the ability to work on own initiative, as well as experience with managing staff in the appropriate disciplines, planning, directing, and controlling activities, managing resources to achieve results and agreeing scope and priorities of work.


Excellent communication skills are required to influence internally and externally across the business, and it is important that you are able to build and maintain strong relationships with local MoD personnel and the end user to ensure excellent delivery of the VIVO contract, are able to influence and negotiate effective delivery within the remit of the VIVO contract, and will lead by example across the VIVO contract and by achieving objectives and consistently demonstrating the Company values.


This is a mobile role and as such, candidates must be willing and able to travel to any sites in the region, hold a full UK driving licence and be able to pass SC Clearance.
