Senior Finance Coordinator

Full Time, Permanent (37.5 hours per week) 

£28,169 per annum plus benefits 

 

The Senior Finance Support Coordinator role is to manage the Finance and Payroll team to support the Serco operational and functional managers to provide timely and accurate financial administration information and services to both its internal and external customers on behalf of Serco across the DACI and JSCSC contracts at the Defence Academy. 

 

The Senior Finance Support Coordinator will be a champion of the processes in their area, providing appropriate guidance and governance when requested.  The Senior Finance Support Coordinator will develop and maintain all the finance and administrative tasks under their control, ensuring they are relevant and up to date. The role will maintain and cultivate a strong relationship with the senior management team (SMT), finance business partners (FBP) and the offshore centre of excellence.

 

As part of this role you will:

  • To provide administration and financial support to the senior management team and both the DACI and JSCSC Contracts.
  • Assist in the finance activities undertaken across the site, including: raising fixed fee; ad hoc PO's; invoicing of customer billing, with regards service variations; pass through and rechargeable costs.
  • Petty cash administration.
  • Managing change requests with regards to subcontractors.
  • Dealing with supplier queries on invoices to ensure timely payment
  • Provide information to AFBPs for the unbilled invoices, to ensure unbilled invoices are kept to a minimum and issues escalated.
  • Build key relationships with external & internal customers
  • Support to offsite Centre of Excellence (CofE) and Shared Service Centre (SSC)
  • Direct line management of staff including 1-2-1's, PDR's, absence management, holiday entitlements day to day support, training and coaching
  • Recruitment to fill gaps within own team and to assist in other recruitment cycles for colleagues when required.
  • Stakeholder management to provide a high level of customer service at all times
  • Work in line with GDPR regulations
  • Continually review own and teams processes to drive streamlined improvements
  • To provide absence cover for other posts within the Support Services team, when required.
  • Monitor and update team's Work Instructions and review and update own as required.
  • Cover Serco payroll administration if required
  • Support colleagues and promote continuous improvement sharing ideas
  • Any other tasks as directed by the Support Services Supervisor. 

 

What you'll need to do the role:

  • Good level of general education, with GCSE's (A-C) or equivalent in English and Mathematics.
  • Previous administration and finance experience.
  • Knowledge/understanding of general office practices
  • PC literate, with experience in MS Office including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Ability to work unsupervised.
  • Ability to cope under pressure.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good understanding of finance systems (ideally SAP) and standardised processes.
  • Is able to interact at all levels and with different cultures.
  • Is able to give an unremitting commitment to building sound working relationships with the operational team, Guided Buying and the SSC finance team.
  • Is able to work in a structured and methodical manner, deadline driven.
  • Continually seeks improved and more efficient methods of working.
  • Seeks clarification by testing understanding.
  • Flexibility to take on additional responsibility as required. BPSS clearance (Prior to Appointment) and SC.
