Here at Serco, we are seeking an experienced Senior People Partner to support the People Director in delivering people related objectives within the Defence Business Unit.


In this key role you will hold specific responsibilities across a number of Maritime and Aviation contracts to ensure the people strategy is flowed down, providing support from the central HR teams. You will be expected to lead a number of change management projects and you will also take the lead in Defence industrial relations related issues, involving substantial union engagement. A demonstrable track-record of, not only union negotiation, but also building a partnership with unions is essential for success.

As part of this you'll:


  • Be a key Trade Union partner and lead on negotiations 
  • Lead and execute complex change and transformation
  • Partner with key stakeholders within Aviation and Maritime, becoming the go-to HR contact for the business unit 
  • Develop and validate business cases for people projects and oversee work being delivered in their business area by People Specialists
  • Provide oversight and thought leadership to the people elements of bids, assuring people solutions and providing appropriate governance
  • Challenge the business and become the 'employee voice' in conversations 


What you'll need to do the role: 


  • Significant experience in the field of industrial relations both in terms of negotiating agreements/deals and building a partnership approach with trade unions
  • Strong skills in influencing, negotiating and stakeholder management 
  • Proven exposure to driving change across an organisation 
  • Passion for working in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment 
  • 'Chartered' member status of the CIPD
  • Ability to travel to attend meetings on Serco sites across the South of England
