What is the purpose of the role?
You will be responsible for overseeing and assuring the Company's reporting of performance with regards to water network, demand components and the company's water balance, including leakage, and you will lead initiatives to improve the accuracy of the reporting. You will also improve the understanding of components of demand, and identify and develop opportunities for improvement in the company's performance with regards to the water network, water balance, leakage and water use components.
What makes this role unique?
This role will allow the successful person to join a highly motivated and well-established team within Thames Water, working in the essential area of analysing and reporting customer water usage and leakage. You will take a key role in the in-year performance reporting for the company, understanding trends, opportunities and risks, and lead initiatives to improve performance that will assist the company in delivering it challenging performance targets in leakage, PCC and SoSI over the coming 5 year period. As leakage targets are becoming more challenging, so the company needs to better understand where and how water is being used, which in turn will allow more accurate understanding and reporting of leakage and actions needed to better manage demand. Thames is currently installing large numbers of smart meters that provide lots more data on property use, but with 2 million properties still unmeasured, advanced techniques and other data sources are needed to provide the insight needed to determine water use for these customers. In this role you will work with a wide variety of data and people from many parts of the business including developer services, water networks, metering (wholesale and retail), customer services, billing, strategic planning and regulatory reporting.
What will this role involve?
As the Performance Reporter, you will be responsible for:
Developing and / or simplifying our current reporting whilst improving its accuracy and robustness.
Ensure that the information that is provide is timely, accessible, transparent, accurate and complete.
Produce commentary around reporting data, providing insight and narrative for clearer understanding of performance.
Coordinate and deliver monthly, quarterly and annual updates and reports for a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
Support the network strategy manager with any reports required for senior leadership meetings.
Maintain a library of reports, presentations and correspondence for audit purposes.
Work with the analysts to provide more insight into the performance data.
What are we looking for?
To be successful in this role you will have an excellent ability to analyse data and have a passion for working with and collating numbers. You will be Degree educated with a professional qualification in Engineering or equivalent. An excellent working knowledge of water network, supply and demand (incl. water use) is essential. Experience of developing plans to improve efficiency in balancing off performance, cost and risk. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to plan well with a track record in delivering to tight timescales. Enthusiastic and self-motivated and a good understanding of the regulatory environment and the impact on the Company.
Thames Water information and salary details
This role will be based at our offices in Clearwater Court, Reading. The salary is up to £42,000 dependent upon your experience.
