An opportunity has arisen for a Sensors and Signature Management Engineer to join the Sensors team.

Reporting to the Technical Authority, you will join their dedicated team that is challenged with the task of delivering robust and cost-effective systems solutions for a range of projects. The successful applicant will work within a multi-disciplinary team and will have the opportunity to follow the project from concept and requirements capture through to delivery and final acceptance.

In this role you will be responsible for a wide range of engineering activities covering all stages of a project from bid to delivery. You will be expected to have a good understanding of all stages of the engineering lifecycle, from concept through to verification and validation of production systems. Working closely with other team members and sub-contractors, you will plan and carry out your activities to develop technical solutions, which successfully meet with the overall objectives of the project.

Key responsibilities

  • Carrying out design and development for new equipment
  • Supporting modifications and updates to existing products
  • Creating the technical specifications, analysis and testing requirements to support the design
  • Provide support during the build process
  • Carry out system Integration, testing and acceptance of the equipment
  • Liaison with suppliers and sub-contractors

Personal attributes

  • Be educated to a minimum of degree level in an electrical engineering.
  • An understanding of processes and techniques applicable to high integrity design.
  • Broad knowledge of other areas of engineering (e.g. systems, mechanical, etc)
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team and across disciplines
  • Able to work with electrical wiring schedules (ideally E3)
  • A high attention to detail
  • Good knowledge of best practice design lifecycle process; gated design phases, design reviews, etc
  • Good in front of customers; willing and able to make presentations

Desirable:

  • Experience in the Defence / Aerospace or safety regulated environment would be advantageous
