Shift Electrician
Darent Valley Hospital
Full time - 40 hours per week
Continental shift pattern working 12 hours shift day 7am - 7pm and night 7pm - 7am
Salary £37,695.53 plus Serco benefits
Main Purpose:
The Shift Electrician will be required to carry out PPM and reactive maintenance breakdowns. checks to anything from changing light fittings to moving sockets, to completing fire alarm / emergency light testing and remedial work to full electrical shutdowns across the hospital.
Main Accountabilities:
- To service and maintain building services plant and equipment in accordance with relevant standards, frequencies, and safe working practices. To respond to reactive breakdowns, carry out fault finding and any necessary repairs.
- Carry out scheduled planned preventative maintenance tasks.
- To have a 'can do' approach to your work ethos.
- Be able to work within a small maintenance team, consisting of a mechanical shift engineer and a semi-skilled shift engineer (plus a full day team of engineering and support staff)
What you will need for the role:
- Skills, Knowledge and Competencies required.
- Good all round technical ability and a working knowledge of a wide variety of electrical systems required, knowledge of building maintenance preferred, but not essential.
- Must be fully qualified in Electrical with experience of Commercial / Hospital buildings.
- Must be fully qualified electrician.
- JIB Gold.
- City and Guilds.
- 2391 testing inspection.
- 18th Edition.
- Good communication skills, both written and oral.
- The ability to multi-task and be methodical.
- A pro-active approach to problem solving.
- Overtime available (shift covers and shut down work, as well as additional remedial works).
- Plenty of overtime available
