Derwentside Immigration Removal Centre is female only accommodation, where we are responsible for all aspects of detainee safety, security and welfare provision, facilities management and catering.   

 

Here at Derwentside Immigration Removal Centre we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Retail Assistant who can develop and maintain effective relations with the customer and external suppliers. This position requires someone with strong interpersonal skills, good oral and written communication and supervisory skills with a basic understanding of risk and conflict management.

 

The key purpose of this role is to provide a comprehensive and efficient shop service to residents and Staff. You will manage stock control systems to ensure that adequate stock levels are maintained at all times and operate/participate in the ordering process.

 

You will use computer-based software in order to service the residents shop requirements and ensure that stock is held appropriately and securely to ensure that shrinkage due to theft or deterioration is minimised. You'll ensure that detailed and accurate sales and purchase records are kept so that payment to suppliers can be efficiently progressed and liaise with other departments when required.

 

What you'll need to do the role?

 

You will be self-motivated and able to use your own initiative and work to tight deadlines. This is a role in which requires excellent organisational skills and also requires the following:

 

  • Experience of working within a retail environment
  • Experience of working in a high-pressured operation.
  • Food Safety level 1 or 2
  • Awareness of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP)
  • Awareness of allergen control within catering
