About the role

We are seeking an experienced and customer-focused Shop Assistant to provide superior customer service within the store based in our facility at Brisbane Immigration Transit Accommodation (BITA). This is a Casual position offering 30 hours per fortnight, working across the seven-day week, including public holidays with the opportunity to cover leave. This role is a pivotal position and will suit a flexible, capable and experienced retail assistant who can demonstrate common sense along with a willingness to work within a multicultural and dynamic environment. You will be responsible for the store stock control maintenance and replenishment and manual handling is part of this role. A key requirement is the ability to compile the weekly list of available stock items, sales transactions and the collation of detainee points whilst taking pride in the store and ensuring it is safe and clean always.

You will possess a friendly and helpful demeanour coupled with proven success in providing service excellence within the retail environment. You will be operating within a fast paced and sometimes challenging environment. You will need to demonstrate resilience and have a calm manner with good attention to detail to meet the responsibilities of this position. You are a respectful and professional person who demonstrates exceptional moral values in everything you do.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • The highest levels of personal integrity and ethical behaviour
  • Experience in customer service within a retail environment
  • Good computer skills
  • Superior skills with numeracy and accuracy
  • Proficient in written and verbal English language
  • Presentation and Stock control
  • Certificate II in Retail (desirable)
  • Ability to maintain an Australian Federal Police Clearance
  • Maintain a current Working with Children certificate
