Your Opportunity
We are currently looking for a Softscape Specialist who will ensure effective Softscape O&M Processes and Procedures (including pest control and irrigation), across all 137 cilent sites spread over 131 countries (including the three sites in Riyadh), through the implementation of best practice horticulture and arboriculture asset maintenance management, as locally required.
The ideal candidate should have a record of engagement with a wide range of stakeholders. An individual with good communication and interpersonal skills at an individual and team level.
The hiring for this position is subject to contract award.
Key Accountabilities
- The key purpose of this role is to ensure that all softscape requirements are well-planned, well-maintained, and cost-effective and that any potential issues are identified and addressed.
- Softscape (soft grounds) maintenance (including pest and irrigation overview) strategy and management, including (but not limited to) choice of palettes, planting, and disposal, of all horticulture and arboriculture matters
- Management and control of all internal plant displays
- Overseeing the appointment of softscape supervisory staff.
- Co-ordination of all softscape maintenance services and deliverables, and monitor and meet any applicable Key Performance Indicators (KPI's).
- Provide technical support and advice in softscape maintenance techniques, and carry out an interface role between the softscape maintenance deliverables and all stakeholders.
- Produce regular reports (Weekly, Monthly, Annual) as determined under the terms of the contract and as directed by the Facilities Manager
- Monitor and control softscape maintenance budgets and expenditure; identifying and delivering efficiencies where possible.
- Assist the Facilities Manager with the appointment of a preferred service provider through a competitive tendering process
- Carry out Quality, Health, Safety & Environment Job Responsibilities, and work safely at all times; reporting all hazards and incidents, and to exercise a personal duty of care for own health, safety & welfare and to that of others.
- Support the Facilities Manager in the delivery of the softscape maintenance service for QHSE compliance, policies, procedures and systems that support a safe and professional work location; including active participation in the HSE improvement programme (that includes but is not limited to) producing and monitoring Risk Assessment, Method Statement, Tool Box Talks and specialist training (e.g., QHSE training, programmes, audits and inspections)
Specific Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in applicable field of study
- Minimum 5 years' experience in supervising gardening and planting operations
- Training and development leadership experience
- Demonstrable subject matter expertise across multiple aspects in horticulture and arboriculture (e.g., experience in softscape related assets, such as Grass, Indoor Planting, Irrigation Networks, Nurseries, Parks, Sports Grounds, Courtyards, Playgrounds (grass-planted areas).
- Understanding of softscape Asset Life-Cycle principles
- Record of engagement with a wide range of stakeholders, and expertise in delivering softscape Asset Management advice.
- Experience in development and implementation of best practice standards and processes
- Excellent verbal and written English (Arabic would also be advantageous)
- Good communication skills
- A proven track record of instituting continual improvement
- Diplomatic, with a cultural sensitivity
- Knowledge of CAFM system application to softscape management and performance monitoring.
