Job Title: Software Engineering Project Lead

Location: Portsmouth

Salary: Up to £62,200 depending on skills and experience

What you'll be doing:

  • Working together with the Engineering Project Manager(s) to ensure that the project deliverables are on time, to budget and are of suitable quality
  • Supporting proposal writing, costing and bidding
  • Creating Engineering, Management, Resource and Performance Reporting Plans
  • Planning to execute the delivery against those estimates
  • Tracking progress and reporting progress against the plan
  • Supporting continuous improvement in engineering capability in terms of people, processes, tools and technology

Your skills and experiences:

Essential

  • An understanding of the software lifecycle
  • Experienced in creating proposals, costing and bidding
  • Competent user of typical computer applications and engineering tools
  • Ability to carry out engineering planning and Costing: forecasting, setting objectives, action planning, administering policies, establishing procedures, resource and cost estimating.

Desirable

  • An understanding of software systems and applications
  • Experienced managing the delivery of software projects to the Military
  • Knowledge of agile scrum techniques

The Maritime team: You will be working with tactical systems, mission systems and managing the team dependant on the projects. Tactical data links and mission planning are the main projects and comms between ships and synthetic training and models of aircraft and submarines. This role will provide you with the opportunity to interact with a number of internal customers and work around agile minded people.
