As a Space Engineer specialising in geospatial data management, you will play a key role in managing and utilising Earth observation (EO) data for various projects. You will work closely with experienced engineers and operational teams to ensure efficient data acquisition, processing, storage, and dissemination, whilst exploring novel technologies for the future, contributing to the success of Earth observation missions and the advancement of the downstream space sector.

Key Accountabilities
- Geospatial Data Management: Manage the collection, processing, storage, and dissemination of Earth observation data collected from open access platforms/datasets. Develop and implement data management strategies to ensure efficient and secure handling of large-scale EO datasets.
- Data Processing and Quality Control: Apply data processing techniques to generate value added information. Collaborate with data analysts and scientists to ensure the integrity and quality of processed data products.
- Data Cataloguing and Metadata Management: set up data cataloguing applications and maintain comprehensive metadata for EO datasets. Develop standardised metadata formats and ensure adherence to metadata standards for efficient data search, discovery, and interoperability.
- Data Access and Dissemination: Facilitate efficient data access and dissemination to users and stakeholders. Implement data delivery mechanisms, such as web-based portals, APIs, or data distribution systems, to enable easy and secure access to EO data products.
- Technology Assessment: Review the state-of-the-art technologies (AI, ML, and cognitive) and analyse its integration into operational services.
- Continuous Learning and Professional Development: Stay updated with advancements in EO data management techniques, data processing algorithms, and relevant engineering practices. Seek opportunities for continuous learning, skill enhancement, and professional development in the field of space engineering and data management.
- Data Policy and Compliance: Ensure compliance with data policies, regulations, and licensing requirements related to EO data. Stay updated with international data standards, best practices, and emerging trends in EO data management.
Specific Requirements
- Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- Geospatial Data Management Knowledge: Knowledge of EO data formats and processing algorithms. Familiarity with data access systems and APIs. Familiarity with OGC standards. Knowledge of computer science/AI techniques
- Fluent in English and Arabic to effectively communicate with team members and stakeholders in a multicultural environment
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and present technical information. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and contribute to team goals
- Problem-Solving Skills and Strong analytical abilities, with the capacity to identify and resolve technical challenges related to EO data management. Ability to think critically and propose innovative solutions
- Willingness to adapt to changing project requirements, work in dynamic environments, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Flexibility to work in an international setting and adapt to different cultural contexts during the placement abroad
- Passion for Space Exploration: Demonstrated interest and passion for space exploration, Earth observation, and the utilisation of EO data for scientific research, environmental monitoring, or other space-related applications.
