Stores Operatives

Job title: Stores Operative

Location: Required to work at Penton and Clapham Depot

Job type: Full time, permanent

Working hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5pm.

Salary: £27,352.00 per annum

London's public bike sharing scheme is available 24/7, 365 days a year. There are more than 12,300 bikes, 500 eBikes and over 800 bike docking stations across London to help you get around quickly and easily. The scheme recently expanded to Southwest London so now you can saddle up anywhere from Shepherds Bush to Canary Wharf and Wandsworth Town to Camden Town.

This role will see you operating the day-to-day activity of London's Cycle Hire Scheme's stores room and e-Bike battery charging room, maintaining regular contact with our Bike mechanics as well as all other staff when necessary.

You will be responsible for coordinating deliveries into and out of the site, the issuing of PPE to all front-line staff and the reporting of health and safety concerns in all storage areas. As the backbone of our site, you'll be expected to manage the issuing, storage, and management of Bicycle parts for three different Bike models that we operate with. You'll also support the eBike battery charging process: receiving, distributing and overseeing the batteries used to power our electronic bikes on the scheme. All of these processes will need to be tracked through our on-site IT system Maximo, which we'll train you to operate as part of your role.

This is a vital role within the Cycle Hire Scheme. You'll support the Stores and Purchasing Manager in the successful management and continuous improvement of the Stores area.

You won't be doing this alone either. Our team is made up of professional, friendly, and supportive teammates, including managers who began their careers with Serco as Stores Operatives who now hold Supervisor, Operations Manager and Contract Manager titles.

We are dedicated to the ongoing development and career progression of our Stores Operatives, with outstanding training opportunities made available to you, along with the chance to undertake additional qualifications. These include, but are not limited to, driving courses, Team Leader and Management training and a supportive management team who will provide guidance and advice to ensure you achieve all that you want to with Serco.

What do I need to do the role?

To be considered for a position within our team for successful operation in these areas you'll need a Full UK Driver's Licence and have an acceptable level of IT skills, ideally working with Word and Excel among other software. You should have a rigorous approach to following processes and procedures and be keen to grasp our multitude of development opportunities. A Forklift driving qualification is desirable, however we will provide full training.

You'll also need to be a great team player, have strong, communication analytical and problem resolution skills and be willing to cover shifts at either of our two sites in Penton Street or Clapham. An individual with an ability to self-manage, promote innovation, and possess leadership qualities would perform well in the role, and a strong attitude towards health and safety is also essential.

The perfect applicant would have experience taking part in a stock take or experience working in a store's environment in a previous role.

Please note, this position is subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
