Support Engineering (LSA - Parts Engineer)

Role Description

The LSA Engineer will utilise best practice, professional engineering judgement and initiative to undertake tasks in support of the production of LSA deliverables. Activities will usually be undertaken working as part of a team, with the support and guidance of more senior LSA Engineers.

The LSA Engineer will be responsible for the day-to-day input of appropriate information into LSA tools and business processes.

When working in a parts identification/parts characterisation role, the LSA Engineer will generate and develop part information to the required maturity and conduct NATO codification of new-to-service and modified equipment and parts as required

Specific Core Duties

  • Develop parts in Teamcenter to P44 maturity to allow external procurement. This will include detail such as weights, dimensions, material spec etc.
  • Use Teamcenter to source technical information to support part creation and development. This will include Contract Chronicles, Equipment Information Packs (EIPs), Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) handbooks etc.
  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to source information when required.
  • Use the e-tasking toolset to apply for NSNs for new to service and modified items.
  • Use the available codification tool sets (CSIS) to screen for existing NSNs.
  • Provide evidence to support the performance reporting process.

Experience

  • Awareness of the MoD guidance, policy documents and standards on LSA and how theses support the development LSA outputs.
  • Have, or be able to develop the knowledge of the models and tools required to deliver the LSA outputs.
  • Knowledge of the engineering lifecycle and how support activities align to it, with some experience of operating in the phase relevant to the role.
  • Knowledge or at least recognition of relevant engineering standards, including safety and environmental regulations.
  • Understand the need, and have awareness of, Product Safety and SHE.

Codification/Parts Engineer Specific:

  • Experience in NATO codification
  • Experienced in reading and interpreting technical information .
  • Experience in parts data creation - preferred.
  • Understanding of Configuration Control/Parts Management .
  • Understanding of PLM & ERP systems - preferred.
