Surface Finish Tech 1 (Producer)

Full time, 39 hours per week.

 

 

Serco have a new vacancy for a Tech 1 (Producer) to join the team working at Mount Pleasant Complex (Falkland Islands) on a permanent, full-time basis.

 

 

Key Purpose

 

The Tech 1 Producer is responsible for the delivery of Surface Finish in a wide range of tasks, which include surface preparation (abrading, paint stripping, DMS/PMS abrasive blasting masking, cleaning and pre-treatment), and the application of associated finishes on all MoD assets.  You may be required to manage a small team and provide Quality Assurance checks.

 

Main duties & responsibilities:

 

 

  • Processing work according to the schedule set by the supervising manager
  • Performing surface finish tasks in accordance with the quality policy, procedures and standards required.
  • Undertake a range of technical work, towards aircraft SF maintenance to include manual (Abrading), chemical paint removal and Media paint removal methods on Aircraft and Aircraft components.  Applying a high standard of paint finish to an Aircraft/Aircraft component using various paint schemes utilising modern Spray Paint Application Equipment.
  • Undertake a range of technical work including surface preparation and refurbishment of military vehicles and plant equipment, assemblies, sub-assemblies, and components.
  • Production of sign and graphics work.
  • The completion of Work Order documentation and associated documents where authorized.
  • When detailed, the supervision of personnel employed within the Surface Finish Facility, including the QA checks and stage checks for all production tasks undertaken. Supervisory responsibilities are limited to specific tasks as instructed by the Site Manager or Deputy.
  • That correct trade practices are employed and high standards of workmanship are maintained.
  • Comply with all Quality, Health, Safety, Environmental and Aviation safety requirements.

 

 

 

What I need to do the job?

 

  • Appropriate experience as a RAF Painter and Finisher tradesman or time served civilian equivalent in the trade of Aircraft/Automotive Body shop Painter.
  • NVQ 3 in Aeronautical Engineering (Surface Finish pathway) or equivalent qualification is desirable.
  • Ensuring that all mandatory training is kept up to date, this includes Serco Essentials CBT training.
  • Must have and maintain a standard of Medical Fitness as decreed by the MoD to operate at this remote location to qualify for a local Work Permit.
  • Full driving licence is essential.
