Full Time, Permanent (37 hours per week)

£15,000 - £18,000 per annum

 

Serco Defence deliver a range of services and products to our customers and the MOD, which include the maintenance and training on TPS-77 Radar systems. Within this team, we are currently recruiting for a Trainee TPS-77 Radars Engineer to join our team who will maintain the TPS-77 Radar ensuring KPI targets, quality compliance, safety, continuous improvement, and other contractual obligations are met at site. Electronics training will be provided in the form of Day release to a local college which will enable trainees to be qualified up to BTEC level 3 with the possibility to go further onto complete a HNC. After attaining qualification, you will be trained on supporting and maintaining the radar and will get the opportunity to join the team as a skilled engineer leading to a significant pay rise.

 

The Trainee TPS-77 Radars Engineer will go through training and will gain knowledge and experience in the following areas:

  • Deliver 1st line preventative maintenance.
  • Delivery 1st and 2nd line corrective maintenance.
  • Provide out of hours call out to support radar availability as and when required.
  • Maintain and review radar technical manuals.
  • Maintain and manage all tools and test equipment required to support TPS-77 system.
  • Support the Site Technical Manager to maximise the overall system availability.
  • Spares management of the TSP-77 inventory.
  • Provide a site engineering support to Lockheed Martin when required.

  

What you'll need to do the role:

  • Holds GCSE's grade 4 or above, in Maths, English and Science.
  • Able to work well within a team.
  • Effective communication skills and able to build and maintain strong relationships.
  • Willingness to learn, able to follow policies and procedures.
  • Excellent organisational and timekeeping skills.
  • Basic understanding of electronics would be desirable.
  • Must be able to achieve SC Security Clearance prior to appointment, Serco will arrange this on your behalf.
