Vocational Trainer (ACACIA)

About the Role 

Reporting to the Education Manager, you will be responsible for coordinating the external studies requirements for prisoners engaged in studies at Acacia prison, this will include the coordination of enrolments, access to research and other endorsed education materials. You will deliver scheduled training/education in accordance with the prison's core day and provide a positive learning environment.

The role is committed to provide prisoners with opportunity, skill and experience which enhances their opportunity to gain employment on release from custody.  Employment is a significant factor in reducing the risk of recidivism on a person's release from custody.   

 

About You

You will be a professional and qualified individual who has suitable  experience in Tertiary Education and External Studies with relevant background and knowledge to fill the position of full time Vocational Trainer-External Studies based at the Acacia Prison in Wooroloo. 

You are a passionate and motivated individual who excels in challenging situations where you are required to manage a diverse group of individuals with varied and complex needs. You will have the ability to adapt your training style to meet your audience needs and deliver in a clear concise manner. You have a commitment to driving positive change and support all individuals with a non-judgemental attitude.

 

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in Tertiary Education and External Studies
  • The highest levels of personal integrity and ethical behaviour
  • TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or sufficient to meet Schedule 1 in the Standards for Registered Training Organisations or the ability to achieve it within 6 months after the commencement date in own time and at own cost.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office, Email, Word, and other student data systems.
  • Ability to be open and adaptive to innovation and change.
  • Ability to set and achieve professional goals.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a work team and more broadly within the wider organization.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with varied stakeholders written and verbal.
  • Collaborate professionally and work as part of a high performing team
