Location: Site based with travel amongst our 3 depots in Norfolk. Watton, Aylsham and Kings Lynn.
Permanent: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8am-5pm

Here at Serco we're experts in designing, implementing, and managing waste and recycling services, and right now we're recruiting for a Waste Controller to work within our Norfolk Contract. We provide a complete waste and recycling collection service, striving to minimise waste and maximise participation in recycling to ensure our community remains clean, safe and green.
Reporting to the Senior Contract Manager you will work support the Supervisors in ensuring optimal deployment of resources to maintain contact with the crews throughout the day. You will utilise the tracker systems and provide a liaison between crews and management to identify areas of concern ensuring we respond in a dynamic and pro-active manner.
Within this role you will ensure regular and constructive communication between the office and crews to highlight and remedy any issues, assist the supervisory team by overseeing the KPI suite and highlighting hotspots, escalating where necessary to enable a timely resolution. You will ensure that the Contract/Operations Managers are fully appraised of any compliance failures and maintain and update databases to record and report on performance, ensuring that events/incidents that occur during the working day are recorded and followed up.
This role will see you providing data on poor performance, providing the Supervisors with completed Resources Overtime and Allocation reports, detailing where staff are to be deployed across the Contract. You will help conduct personal and vehicle accident investigations, and assist with approvals, reporting and maintaining annual leave records and compliance with the Absence Management processes.

What you'll need to do this role
First and foremost, you will have excellent organisational skills with an eye for detail, high analytical skills and a willingness to learn new systems and innovative.
Using your knowledge and experience of the waste and recycling industry you will be able to work both unsupervised and with external teams to coordinate requirements and improvements etc.
This role will see you using a range of software applications so you will be someone who has the ability and willingness to learn new systems alongside a strong knowledge of Microsoft packages.
Already having or be willing to complete your IOSH qualification is advantageous.
This role will also require you to travel and visit our 3 depots within Norfolk so you must have the ability to travel between locations.
