About the role

Reporting to the Welfare & Engagement Manager you will work in a passionate team environment. We are seeking qualified and experienced Welfare Officer to ensure the development and implementation of strategies to further improve the wellbeing and care of detainees and provide care for a diverse range of clients.

 

About you

Driven to improve safety and wellbeing outcomes, you are experienced in implementing planned development programs and strategies as well as the early identification, notification and remediation of possible welfare problems. You understand the importance of producing written reports and providing daily logs, maintaining auditable client records and produce relevant information, guidance and appropriate referrals to sources of assistance for those in your care.

 

You are a proactive team player willing to assist and share knowledge. There could also be the opportunity to support others in providing recreational activities for the detainees. You are a respectful and professional person who demonstrates exceptional moral values in everything you do.

 

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • The highest levels of personal integrity and ethical behaviour
  • Certificate III qualification in Community Services, Disability support, Individual Support, Aged Care, Learning and Development, Ethnic affairs or similar (Desirable)
  • Experience in Case Management and preferable managing complex and sensitive cases
  • Significant experience supporting people with high needs in a disability service/aged care community service environment
  • Experience and skill in engaging with culturally and linguistically diverse groups
  • Knowledge of community resources networks
  • Outstanding time management and organisation skills
  • Maintain a current Working with Children certificate in accordance with the relevant state or territory child protection legislation (as required)
  • Hold and maintain HLTAID001 Provide CPR and HLTAID003 Provide First Aid certificates with at least 6 months currency on the certificate 

 

This is a position of trust and responsibility and to support this we will conduct a thorough probity assessment, which includes national police check as an essential selection component for this role.
