Assistant Manager to join a growing and dynamic professional services environment.
This is a delivery-focused role where you will support the management of a varied SME client portfolio, assisting with the end-to-end delivery of accounting and compliance work. You will work closely with Managers and senior team members while also acting as a key day-to-day contact for clients, helping to deliver a high standard of service and build strong relationships.

The Opportunity
You will support the management of a diverse portfolio of SME clients, assisting in all stages of the accounting lifecycle from planning through to completion. Working within a supportive team, you’ll help ensure deadlines are met, quality standards are upheld, and clients receive consistent, high-quality service.
With continued growth across the business, this role offers strong progression potential and the opportunity to develop into a Manager position over time.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in managing a portfolio of SME clients, ensuring deliverables are completed accurately and on time
- Prepare year-end accounts and management accounts
- Support the review process and ensure compliance with accounting standards (including FRS 102 1A)
- Act as a day-to-day point of contact for client queries and ongoing support
- Supervise and review work prepared by junior team members and outsourced teams
- Assist with managing workflow, deadlines, and quality across assignments
- Contribute to process improvements and team efficiencies
- Support the development and mentoring of junior staff
About You- Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA or equivalent), or newly qualified
- Experience within a practice environment
- Strong grounding in accounts preparation and compliance
- Some experience supporting or coordinating client engagements
- Good communication skills with the ability to build client relationships
- Organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities
- Experience reviewing junior staff work is advantageous
- Comfortable using cloud-based accounting systems and new technologies
