Adaptations Officer required!
Salary: £23.70 per hour
Location: Cambridge
Hours: Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm
Till January 2026 (will possibility of extension)
JOB PURPOSE : To manage the delivery of adaptations and alterations that will assist frail and disabled tenants in accordance with agreed policies and practices and the long-term plan to improve accessibility of housing stock within the allocated capital budget provision
MAIN ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. General responsibility for implementing the Council's Adaptations Policy and delivering adaptations to the Council's residential properties,
2. Maintaining an accurate an up-to-date record of all adaptations requests and work orders for the purpose of monitoring annual programme progress and costs and for identifying all ongoing equipment servicing needs.
3. Liaison with Occupational Therapists to ensure that adaptations recommendations, are necessary and appropriate in line with legislation and council policy prior to approving.
4. Ensuring that tenants are kept fully informed regarding the progress of OT referrals and the ordering and delivery of adaptation work. Liaising with tenants, OT and other stakeholders when referrals are refused. Lead on feasibility surveys on site, engaging other consultants as necessary.
5. Representing the team in case meetings with City Homes, Housing Advice, OTs & tenants to determine if adaptations or rehousing is the appropriate route.
6. Requesting and assessing Issuing work orders / instructions to contractors and project management of individual adaptations works. Issuing all necessary contractual related documents.
7. Carrying out site inspections and signing off works; ensuring compliance with the specifications and resolving any outstanding defects.
8. Arranging for the servicing of or repair of specialist equipment. Identifying when services charges should be collected from tenants and implementing process to enable this.
9. Cost Centre Management responsibility for the Adaptations service, completing monthly variance reports. Assessing and processing invoices and variations.
10. Ensuring tenants are means tested as required, raising invoices as required & receiving tenant contributions. Calculating contributions from tenants towards adaptations works.
