Location: Unit 17b, Lingfield Point, Darlington, DL1 1RW

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8am-4pm.

Contract: Temporary ongoing

Pay: £12.33 per hour (rising to £12.90 per hour from April 2026)

Start Date: immediate

Are you organised, detail-driven and ready to play a key part in supporting patient care behind the scenes? We're looking for a Medical Records Clerk to join our team - someone who takes pride in accuracy, enjoys a structured routine, and thrives in a role where no two days are the same.

In this important position, you'll help ensure patient medical records are created, maintained and managed to the highest standards. You'll work with both paper and electronic systems, keeping information flowing smoothly and supporting clinical teams with timely access to vital documents.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Creating, updating and maintaining accurate patient medical records.
  • Organising, retrieving and securely delivering records across the service.
  • Filing and storing medical records in line with established systems and schedules.
  • Reviewing documents for accuracy, completeness and compliance.
  • Supporting daily, emergency and project-based record requests.
  • Carrying out general administrative and clerical tasks to support the wider Medical Records department.

This role involves a good level of physical activity and manual handling, as you'll be working with physical files alongside digital systems.

Skills & Attributes You'll Need

Core Skills

  • Strong computer literacy (comfortable using electronic filing systems & Microsoft Office)
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Accurate data entry and attention to detail
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to follow clear processes and procedures

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to handle manual tasks, including lifting, moving and filing records

Employment will be subject to passing screening requirements, including a DBS and credit history check, clear of sanctions. Proof of address and passed referencing requested.
