Advisory Accountant - Public & Private Sector Advis

Qualified Accountant – Business & Economic Advisory About the Role An established advisory practice is looking for a driven, commercially astute Qualified Accountant to join its advisory division. This role suits someone who enjoys blending numbers, commercial judgement and problem-solving to help clients across both the private and public sectors make sound strategic choices.
You'll work across a varied client base spanning Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and Great Britain — helping private businesses secure growth and funding, and helping public bodies plan, appraise and evaluate major capital and economic development schemes.
You'll join a small, senior team where you'll get real client-facing responsibility from early on, and the chance to work on projects with genuine, visible impact on local economies. What You'll Be Doing Working with Private Businesses
  • Building business plans that support growth, investment decisions and wider strategy
  • Constructing financial models, forecasts and scenario/sensitivity analysis
  • Drafting applications for regional, national and EU funding and grant schemes
  • Analysing business performance, margins and growth potential
  • Advising on expansion plans, capital spend, innovation and efficiency projects
  • Running benchmarking exercises and performance reviews
  • Helping clients build the case they'll present to lenders or investors
  • Spotting ways to lift efficiency, profitability and cash flow
  • Presenting findings directly to owners, leadership teams and other stakeholders
Working with Public Sector Bodies
  • Drafting formal business cases using recognised government appraisal frameworks and departmental guidance
  • Producing economic appraisals, strategic assessments and options appraisals
  • Carrying out financial and economic analysis to test value for money
  • Writing feasibility studies for regeneration, infrastructure, tourism and economic development schemes
  • Completing post-project evaluations and wider programme reviews
  • Building financial appraisals and whole-life cost models
  • Supporting the development of investment strategies and funding bids
  • Working with socio-economic, demographic and market data to shape recommendations
  • Liaising directly with councils, government departments and funding bodies
Across Both
  • Producing polished, board- and funder-ready reports
  • Turning dense financial and economic detail into clear, actionable recommendations
  • Juggling multiple live assignments and hitting deadlines
  • Building genuine client relationships and a strong service reputation
  • Getting involved in client meetings, workshops and presentations
  • Contributing to business development and proposal writing
  • Working closely with colleagues across the wider advisory function
  • Staying current on funding schemes, government policy and economic trends
What We're Looking For Must-Haves
  • A recognised accountancy qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Strong analytical ability, financial modelling skill and confident report writing
  • A track record of digging into complex financial data and drawing out commercial conclusions
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • A sharp eye for detail
  • Strong organisational and project-management ability
  • Confidence engaging with senior stakeholders
  • Comfort managing competing priorities with a good degree of independence
  • A proactive mindset — happy to question assumptions and push toward practical solutions
Nice-to-Haves Any of the following would be an advantage:
  • Background in business advisory, consultancy or strategic planning
  • Experience preparing business cases, economic appraisals or feasibility studies
  • Exposure to funding applications or public funding schemes
  • Financial modelling or investment appraisal experience
  • Work in economic development, regeneration or the public sector
  • Familiarity with government economic appraisal frameworks
