Job description
The Army Digital Services (ADS) organisation is part of the Chief Technology Office (CTO) part of the Directorate of Information within Army Headquarters Andover. ADS is the Army's supplier of choice for the design, development and support of applications and services to provide digital enablement of the Army's processes. It therefore supports the Army’s ambitious and innovative modernisation and transformation agenda. ADS enables this digital transformation by developing bespoke software, hosting applications, including the Army Data Warehouse and conducting data analytics.

A fantastic opportunity has opened up within the Army Information Directorate - Army Digital Services for a Dev Ops (Power Platform) Engineers. This role offers hands-on experience to support career advancement in the Digital Data and technology sector.
As part of the Army Power Platform team, you will be actively involved in designing, developing, and managing advanced applications that enhance efficiency, address user needs, and enhance services for Army Automation and Process across the entire Army.
Working in an Agile setting, you will have the support of a Senior Application Engineer and collaborate with other application engineers, as well as various roles within a delivery squad (including Delivery Manager, Business Analysts, DevOps, Architects, and Testers). As a DeveOps Engineer, you will have a crucial role in implementing our Low Code/Power Apps strategy, supporting diverse business areas within the Army.
You’ll have opportunities to contribute to impactful digital work, such as:
Your day to day will be supporting applications which have been built using PowerApps and Power Automate, as well as converting old systems into low code applications and building new applications from scratch
You’ll collaborate with senior developers and own the Application Development Lifecycle Process as part of a delivery team focused on one or more products
You’ll also be actively participating in improving the capability of the Power Platform team, as well as presenting at Show and Tells to share achievements with the team and stakeholders
Support platform Governance for Citizen Coders – FAQs, Technical Forums
Contribute to Service Management processes. This may include helping gather user feedback, incident logging, triage, helping with maintaining service management documentation and collaborating with managed service providers
As a Power Platform developer in an Agile environment, you will work closely with a Senior Application Engineer and alongside other application engineers and team members in the delivery squad
Your responsibilities will involve not only designing essential applications but also ensuring their reliability, strength, and resilience to keep our digital services operating effectively
Collaboration with stakeholders from Army Digital and beyond will be a key aspect of your role
There is a possibility of taking online management duties for Application Engineer Apprentices in the future

Person specification
Essential:
Experience of developing applications using the Microsoft Power Platform, using Power Apps, Power Automate and Dataverse
Experience of managing and integrating data across common Power Platform Data Source’s such as Dataverse and SharePoint Lists
Experience in working in Agile/Rapid application development teams, contributing to solution delivery and decision making throughout the full agile delivery lifecycle
Experience working with collaborative tools such as Azure DevOps/JIRA
Desirable:
Experience of recommending and assessing tooling standards to be used for application engineering
Experience of collaborating with stakeholders to improve application usability and performance
It would be beneficial to have knowledge of Power BI when starting the role but not essential
While prior knowledge of Power BI would be advantageous when starting, it is not a mandatory requirement
