Counterbalance Forklift Truck Driver / Warehouse Operative
Reporting to: Warehouse & Facilities Manager
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and safety-conscious Counterbalance Forklift Truck Driver / Warehouse Operative to join our busy warehouse operation. This role is primarily focused on the safe movement, storage, loading, and unloading of stock using a Counterbalance Forklift Truck, while supporting the day-to-day warehouse functions to ensure operational efficiency and stock accuracy.
The successful candidate will hold a valid Counterbalance Forklift Truck licence and be committed to maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and productivity.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate a Counterbalance Forklift Truck safely and efficiently to load, unload, move, and store goods.
- Ensure all daily delivery and loading schedules are completed accurately and on time.
- Receive, check, and store incoming goods within designated warehouse locations.
- Prepare palletised stock for storage and dispatch, ensuring accurate stock counts and correct labelling.
- Maintain accurate stock control and follow all warehouse procedures.
- Report any stock discrepancies, damaged goods, leaking products, incorrect pallet labelling, or unsafe storage practices immediately.
- Assist with stock rotation using First In, First Out (FIFO) principles.
- Support packaging and finished goods stock counts as required.
- Complete all warehouse documentation accurately, including equipment checks, cleaning schedules, and stock records.
- Carry out daily forklift truck safety inspections and report any defects or maintenance requirements.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised warehouse environment.
- Follow safe manual handling practices and company lifting procedures.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure efficient warehouse operations.
- Adhere to all Health & Safety regulations, company policies, and quality standards.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties required to support the needs of the business.
Candidate Requirements
Essential
- Valid and in-date Counterbalance Forklift Truck Licence/Certification.
- Previous experience operating a Counterbalance Forklift Truck in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
- Good understanding of warehouse operations and stock control processes.
- Strong awareness of Health & Safety procedures.
- Good numeracy and literacy skills.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexible attitude towards working hours to meet business demands.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
