Electrical Engineering Technician

Location: Midlands
Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

The Opportunity

We are recruiting for an Electrical Engineering Technician to support the design and delivery of bespoke automation and electrical systems projects.

This role will involve preparing and developing electrical design documentation using EPLAN, including schematics, panel layouts, cable schedules, bills of materials and installation documentation. Working alongside experienced engineers, you will support projects from design through to manufacture, installation and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and develop electrical design drawings and documentation using EPLAN Electric P8.
  • Produce electrical schematics, panel layouts, cable schedules, bills of materials and associated project documentation.
  • Support the selection and specification of electrical components in line with project requirements and engineering standards.
  • Assist in the design of control panels, power distribution systems, drives, motors, safety devices, sensors and associated equipment.
  • Respond to technical queries from manufacturing, software, installation and commissioning teams.
  • Ensure all electrical documentation is accurate, controlled and suitable for manufacture and installation.

Essential Requirements

  • Experience producing electrical drawings, schematics and panel layouts within an industrial, automation, manufacturing or machinery environment.
  • Experience using EPLAN Electric P8 or similar electrical design software.
  • Understanding of industrial control panels, automation systems and electrical components.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, technical specifications and project documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail with a structured approach to producing and maintaining design documentation.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • HNC, HND, apprenticeship or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience working with PLC hardware, drives, motors, sensors, safety devices and industrial field equipment.
