Engineer/Handyman | Spire Portsmouth, Havant | Permanent |Fulltime-37.5 hours per week | Competitive salary

Spire Portsmouth Hospital is recruiting for an Engineer to join their fantastic team on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will work as part of the engineering team providing a comprehensive and cost-effective engineering service within the hospital. To maintain a safe and compliant environment for all staff and patients.

Duties and responsibilities:

To assist the Engineering Team with comprehensive, cost-effective planned preventative maintenance program and maintain a safe environment, for all staff and patients

Keeping up to date with the Hospital's policies when carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPMs).
Assist the Engineering team with service & maintenance to plant & equipment throughout the Hospital.
Carry out maintenance of the estate, i.e. grounds, buildings and services to make sure they are in good state of repair.
Report any defects and to source courses of action in respect of repairs that may be required.
Assist with internal re-decorations, repairs, plumbing, electrical works, etc.
Oversee all contractors whilst they are working on the hospital site.
To assist with any other reasonable duties required by your line manager.
Ensure on-going training as appropriate for the Job role as well as attend mandatory training sessions.
To comply with obligations in respect of Health & Safety at Work legislation, Fire procedures, ensuring compliance within the department.
As a member of the maintenance Engineering team, you will be expected to partake in the departments on call Rota on successful completion of your probationary period

Who we're looking for:

Have preferred knowledge of Electrical / Mechanical Engineering
Hold relevant certificates or be willing to undertake specialist training in specific areas
Have completed a recognised apprenticeship in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering with C&G Qualification in Electrical or Mechanical field,
Have experience of working in a hospital environment, or similar settings
Have knowledge of the healthcare market
