Gas Engineer

Base Location: Midlands and East of England

Full Time, 37.5 Hours, Permanent

£39,463 + Van with private use + Benefits
 

 

Key Purpose
The primary function of this role is to undertake boiler servicing, installation, maintenance, breakdown response, fault diagnosis, and the completion of gas safety certificates. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong ability to diagnose gas-related faults, ensure safe and methodical working practices, and provide guidance to non-trade maintenance operatives, fostering a collaborative relationship with Housing teams.

 

Key Accountabilities

 

Property Maintenance

  • Report faults using the AORA system and follow up until resolved.
  • Work with subcontractors to ensure access, quality standards, and approvals.
  • Carry out checks on subcontractor work and share feedback with the team.

Gas Work

  • Install and repair gas appliances and systems.
  • Check and fix gas leaks and safety devices.
  • Keep accurate gas safety records and ensure quality of all gas work.

Health & Safety

  • Always work safely and follow safety reports (like asbestos or risk alerts).
  • Raise issues or request more information if needed before starting work.

Materials & Tools

  • Buy materials only from approved suppliers and keep receipts.
  • Get approval for tools or equipment over £100.
  • Look after all tools, vehicles, and equipment.

Waste & Cleanliness

  • Remove waste from properties and dispose of it properly.
  • Report any cleaning needs through the AORA system.

Work Planning

  • Understand the contract requirements and meet all deadlines.
  • Make sure all tasks meet our quality standards.

 

Essential Skills and Certifications

  • Recognised gas industry qualifications.
  • Gas Safe registration.
  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Domestic Natural Gas Installation & Maintenance.
  • CENWAT, CKR1 certifications.
  • Valid UK driving licence.
  • Willingness to undertake further training.
  • CRB and CTC security clearance.
