Contract Type: Ongoing Temporary with Permanent Opportunity

Working Hours

  • Monday to Thursday: 07:00 - 16:00
  • Friday: 07:00 - 15:00

About the Role

We are currently recruiting for a General Operative to join a busy scaffolding warehouse in Sudbury. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting daily warehouse operations, ensuring scaffolding equipment is processed efficiently, maintained to a high standard, and prepared for customer deliveries and collections.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work in a fast-paced environment and is looking for long-term employment with the potential to secure a permanent position.

Main Duties

  • Load and unload scaffolding materials from vehicles safely and efficiently.
  • Sort, store, and organise scaffold tubes, fittings, boards, and related equipment.
  • Inspect returned stock for damage, defects, or wear and report any issues.
  • Clean, repair, and maintain scaffolding equipment using hand and power tools where required.
  • Accurately pick, prepare, and pack customer orders for dispatch.
  • Support routine stock counts and inventory control activities.
  • Carry out basic maintenance and refurbishment of equipment.
  • Adhere to all health and safety procedures, including the correct use of PPE.
  • Work closely with warehouse colleagues, drivers, and other departments to meet operational requirements.
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards across the warehouse and yard.
  • Undertake any other duties as required to support the business.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • Previous experience working in a warehouse, yard, manufacturing, construction, or similar hands-on environment.
  • Ability to safely and confidently use hand tools and power tools.
  • Physically fit and capable of carrying out manual handling duties, including lifting heavy materials.
  • Reliable, hardworking, and proactive with a positive attitude.
  • Good attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Own transport is essential due to the location of the site.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience working with scaffolding materials or construction equipment.
  • Awareness of health and safety procedures within a warehouse or industrial environment.
