Pay Rate: £13.25 per hour
Contract: Temporary Ongoing with Permanent Opportunities
Working Hours
Monday to Thursday: 7:00am - 4:00pm
Friday: 7:00am - 3:00pm
The Opportunity
Blue Arrow is recruiting on behalf of a well-established scaffolding supplier based in Sudbury, Derbyshire. We are seeking a reliable and hardworking General Operative to join a busy warehouse and yard operation.
This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with a strong manufacturing background who are looking for long-term, stable employment with genuine opportunities to secure a permanent position. The role is varied and hands-on, requiring individuals who are comfortable working both indoors and outdoors while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and productivity.
Due to the nature of the role, previous experience using hand tools and powered tools is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Loading and unloading scaffolding equipment from delivery vehicles.
- Organising, storing, and moving scaffold tubes, boards, fittings, and associated materials.
- Inspecting returned equipment and identifying damage, defects, or items requiring repair.
- Cleaning, repairing, and preparing equipment for future hire.
- Using hand tools and powered tools to carry out maintenance and refurbishment tasks.
- Picking, packing, and preparing customer orders for dispatch.
- Assisting with stock control, stock counts, and inventory management.
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised warehouse and yard environment.
- Following all company health and safety procedures and PPE requirements.
- Supporting wider operational teams and assisting with general warehouse duties as required.
Candidate Requirements
Essential
- Previous experience within a manufacturing environment is required.
- Experience working in a warehouse, production, construction, engineering, yard, or industrial setting.
- Proven experience using hand tools and powered tools safely and effectively.
- Physically fit and comfortable carrying out manual handling tasks throughout the working day.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
- Reliable, hardworking, and able to work as part of a team.
Important
Own transport is required due to the rural location of the site. Public transport options are limited and may not support commuting to and from the facility reliably.
Desirable
- Experience within construction, or heavy industrial environments.
- Understanding of stock control and warehouse processes.
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety procedures.
- Previous experience repairing or maintaining industrial equipment.
