Job summary

The Competition and Markets Authority has established an Executive Directorate for Data, Technology, and Insight (DTI), which encompasses our expertise in data science, data engineering, artificial intelligence, behavioural science, technology insight, and digital forensics, as well as technology systems, architecture, digital products and tooling.

The Technology and Digital (T&D) Department provides support and technical business solutions for all CMA staff across all office locations and comprises of five teams - Change Delivery, Service Desk, Infrastructure, Enterprise Application Solutions and End-User Computing (EUC).

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) is seeking a Head of Products and Applications to act as part Product Owner, part Business Relationship manager and be directly responsible for the second line team that support our Enterprise Applications and Systems Development.

Job description

What you will do

The Head of Products and Applications is key to providing support for the critical applications that CMA use which include our ERP Software, Unit 4 Business World (Agresso), the Microsoft Office 365 eco-system (including Dynamics 365, our Digital Case Management System, SharePoint Online and associated SharePoint applications such as Casework Hub and RTP/STA, and other specialist applications. 

You will provide application team representation on ongoing application delivery projects as required.

In addition, you will engage with all departments across the CMA, and with external suppliers about the introduction of new solutions that will improve business efficiency and security.

Person specification

Experience of working with and troubleshooting Unit4 Business World (Agresso), SharePoint Online and M365 Application Software (Lead Criteria)
Significant experience leading enterprise application support teams using a Product based approach and a proven track record managing Microsoft-based enterprise applications with Microsoft certifications (e.g, Azure Administrator, Dynamics 365, Power Platform). (Lead Criteria)
Experience of working in an environment which uses IT Service Desk Procedures, Service Level Agreements and Supplier Management.
Experience supporting internally developed applications and working in Agile/DevOps environments with ideally some certification (e.g., Scrum Master, Azure DevOps Engineer).
Experience in a regulated or compliance-heavy business and knowledge of vendor and third-party support management.
Experience of service transition of software into BAU support and knowledge of technical configuration, application architecture and software testing.
Experience of working in a technical support role using the ITIL framework, ideally possessing an ITIL v4 foundation certificate.
Ability to learn and understand new applications in order to support the users of those applications and to manage deployment, upgrades and issue resolution.
