Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within HM Land Registry's (HMLR) Transformation & Technology directorate for an Infrastructure Engineer - Server Management & Maintenance. 

This role specifically sits within the Server Management and Maintenance team, a multi-disciplinary team responsible for delivering various outcomes supporting the wider technology strategy, specifically providing centralised expertise in management and maintenance of HMLR’s Windows Server estate, storage and server applications, which underpin a number of business-critical applications.

Job description

Using your technical skills and knowledge you will take a hands-on approach to your work, providing service support to wider projects and BAU activities as part of a wider Infrastructure Engineering community.

Main duties include: 

Provide skills and technical support for maintenance of IT Infrastructure and platforms, as part of a wider infrastructure engineering community.
Represent your specialism on relevant projects and programmes, providing advice and guidance to ensure services are developed in a supportable design.
Plan and manage technical changes, implement technology to ensure non-functional requirements and service levels can be achieved, engaging with other technical specialists where appropriate.
Pro-actively support live services. Taking the responsibility for the resolution of live incidents or escalation, as appropriate. Support continuous enhancements to live services and systems to prevent service outage.

Please note you will be required to work a minimum of 30 hours per week in this post.   

This role may involve occasional travel which may include stays away from home and participation in a permanent on-call rota.  The role may require occasional planned out of hours working in order to deal with IT changes and maintenance. 

HMLR expect everyone to spend at least 60% of their working time in the office.

Person specification

To be successful in this role you will hold a qualification in Information Technology, or a related area or experience in an IT field. 

You will have in depth knowledge and proven experience in at least three of the following: 

Windows server environment
Virtualisation software (i.e Nutanix AHV)
Patch management and application lifecycle management
Distributed Infrastructure, Servers, Distributed Applications, Data Management
Storage management
Web Infrastructure; Internet Information Services, Intranet, Web Applications, Azure tools for hybrid infrastructure.
Microsoft Exchange

You must have worked in an IT Functional Specialism post and have experience of delivering infrastructure change and end-to-end solutions.

You will also have experience of working practices/processes within IT Service Delivery and evidence of support and troubleshooting using appropriate toolsets. You are an effective communicator with proven problem solving skills.
