As an Infrastructure Engineer in DWP’s Specialist Devices team, you’ll be part of a highly motivated group delivering world-class solutions to thousands of users. We support over 3,000 engineers and 5,000 customer computers, managing macOS environments and exploring emerging technologies to meet unique user needs. 

Our team is collaborative and multi-disciplinary. We work closely to understand user requirements, assess options, recommend solutions, and implement them from start to finish. We take pride in owning our products end-to-end and continuously improving the service to enhance user experience. 

You’ll bring a strong technical background and experience working in large enterprise environments. Your role will include providing expert third-line support and contributing to the evolution of our infrastructure through innovation and improvement. 

This role involves supporting the day-to-day management and development of infrastructure products across our diverse portfolio, including MacOS, Jamf, and ChromeOS, while also contributing to the design and future direction of these solutions.

Job description

Provide infrastructure support at Level 3 for the products in our portfolio, which includes: Approximately 3,000 users who develop and test solutions for DWP, devices used by media and video experts to design and deliver campaigns and computers used by citizens in Jobcentres across the UK.
Work as part of a delivery team, contributing to the design, development, and continuous improvement of the product portfolio.
Maintain the resilience of infrastructure solutions, ensuring consistent performance and reliability, whilst safeguarding security standards.
Collaborate with senior colleagues and take ownership of the Infrastructure Development Lifecycle Process.

Person specification

Experience of upgrading enterprise-scale macOS or other operating systems.  
Understanding of complex and diverse customer needs, taking accountability for delivering a quality service which adheres to legal, regulatory and security standards. 
Demonstrates a strong commitment to continuous improvement by actively enhancing processes and standards across teams and the wider engineering community.  
Experience of 3rd line support for incidents with the ability to apply different techniques to analyse and resolve problems. 
Proven ability to collaborate effectively with engineering teams and stakeholders, ensuring alignment of technical solutions with business needs and promoting shared ownership of outcomes.
