Job: IT Support
Location: Glasgow City Centre
Job Summary (12‑month contract)
Hours: Monday-Friday, 09:00-17:00 (35 hrs).
Pay: £21.90per hour.
Some out‑of‑hours work and occasional overnight stays may be required for installations.
Driving: Full driving licence required. Pool car and duty travel pass available.
Reporting to the Infrastructure Manager, this role provides field support for the rollout of SD‑WAN across the estate, along with general network support and project assistance.
Key Responsibilities
- Schedule and attend onsite meetings with SD‑WAN suppliers and circuit providers (BT/Virgin).
- Support hardware logistics: delivery, movement, and storage.
- Perform basic configuration of network hardware (switches, SD‑WAN routers).
- Maintain comms cabinets, replace faulty kit, and tidy cabling.
- Survey and document site IT systems.
- Assist the Networks team with BAU fault investigations.
- Ensure network performance, security, and availability.
- Support IT projects of varying scale.
- Manage suppliers to meet delivery deadlines.
- Complete RAMS where required and carry out QA checks on completed works.
- Provide general IT business support when needed.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience delivering IT projects.
- Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, especially IP networking.
- Experience with fibre and copper cabling and related fault‑finding.
- Good communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills.
- Able to work independently across multiple and remote sites.
- Full driving licence.
Desirable
- Knowledge of railway operational environments.
- Experience with RAMS and civils documentation.
- COMPTIA Network+ certification.
- VOIP telephony experience.
- SD‑WAN knowledge.
- ITIL Foundation certification.
