Job description
Key Responsibilities
Monitor site uptime and site reliability and take necessary action.
Stewardship and ownership of work items.
Work from support tickets to diagnosis of fault and then action or refer to appropriate 3rd line teams.
Write code according to standards, and security review tools.
Meet individual and contribute to the Applications Teams SLAs.
Onboard and mentor new colleagues to the team.
Working with project managers, technical leads, and subject matter experts to develop, maintain, and support, key Ofgem scheme applications.
Complete personal training as per learning objectives relating to technical skills with the objective of becoming a full stack developer and undertake greenfield development of Ofgem schemes.
Key Outputs and Deliverables
Triage of service requests and/or Incidents by replication and in turn identifying the appropriate solution.
Maintain Service Request tickets and items on Azure DevOps backlog.
Maintain documentation relating to the Application Support Team and contribute to the wider Digital Development Teams documentation store in various locations, such as the Azure wiki, Confluence, SharePoint.
Identify improvements in the Applications Support work area.
Supporting the Development Team within an agile project setting, delivering work items accordingly and meeting sprint timelines.
Working from the AzureBacklog to complete task relating to SonorCloud, Technical Debt as well as investigation work as directly by the Technical Lead or Product Manager.
Actively participating in daily catchups, refinement meetings, sprint planning, retrospectives and show & tells.
Collaborate with colleagues across Ofgem. In particular:
- Digital Development Team (of which Applications Support is a part)
- Digital Services
- Digital Project Management Office & Delivery teams

Person specification
Essential Criteria
Essential skills and experience in the following technologies: (Lead criteria)
- Microsoft .NET (C#)
- SQL server
- ASP.NET
- Debugging and fault diagnosis
Knowledge or experience in any of the following:
- Microservices and API development
- MVC
- Microsoft Azure
- SOLID techniques
- Continuous integration
- Version control
- Entity framework
Able to demonstrate the following skills:
- Ability to learn and be trained on the job
- Strong work planning and time management
- Managing of Problems, incidents and development tasks
Desirable Criteria
Some experience of working within a development team using debugging skills and tools.
Agile methodologies.
Writing unit and integration tests, and/or unit testing frameworks.
