General Operative

Location: Sudbury (DE6 5GX)

Pay Rate: £13.25 per hour

Contract Type: Ongoing Temporary with Permanent Opportunity

Working Hours:

Monday to Thursday: 07:00 - 16:00
Friday: 07:00 - 15:00

About the Role

We are currently recruiting for a General Operative to join a busy scaffolding warehouse in Sudbury. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting daily warehouse operations, ensuring scaffolding equipment is processed efficiently, maintained to a high standard, and prepared for customer deliveries and collections.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work in a fast-paced environment and is looking for long-term employment with the potential of a permanent position.

Main Duties

Load and unload scaffolding materials from vehicles safely and efficiently.
Sort, store, and organise scaffold tubes, fittings, boards, and related equipment.
Check returned stock for damage, defects, or wear and report any issues to management.
Clean and maintain equipment to ensure it is ready for future use.
Accurately pick and prepare customer orders for dispatch.
Support routine stock counts and inventory control activities.
Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including the use of PPE.
Work closely with warehouse colleagues, drivers, and other departments to meet operational requirements.
Keep work areas tidy and assist with general housekeeping tasks across the warehouse.
Carry out additional duties as required to support the business.

What We're Looking For

Previous warehouse, yard, or construction experience is advantageous but not essential.
Physically capable of carrying out manual handling duties and lifting heavy materials.
Reliable with a strong work ethic and positive attitude.
Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
Able to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.
Own transport is essential due to the location of the site.
