Learning and Development Specialist
Location: Hybrid (BS34 area with travel to Andover as required)
Contract Type: Fixed Term (until 26 February 2027)
Salary: Up to £40,000 per annum
About the Role
This is a dynamic and impactful opportunity to support the mobilisation of a high-profile new contract within the Armed Forces Recruitment Service (AFRS). As Learning and Development Manager, you'll lead the delivery of training initiatives and development programmes that grow capability and support personnel across the tri-service recruitment landscape.
You'll work closely with stakeholders to identify training needs, conduct gap analyses, and develop Training Needs Analysis (TNA) reports. Your expertise will shape the design and delivery of blended learning solutions-ranging from classroom sessions to digital content-ensuring alignment with Defence Systems Approach to Training (DSAT) standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and support the TNA process, including role analysis, gap identification, and training options
* Produce DSAT-aligned Training Needs Reports and L&D plans
* Deliver classroom and virtual training sessions across AFRS
* Collaborate with design teams to develop engaging, blended learning content
* Evaluate and evolve existing training materials to meet changing business needs
* Ensure quality of delivery meets external standards and internal expectations
* Forecast training demand and align resources through skills mapping
* Support internal SMEs in delivering technical and legal training
* Work with HR and performance teams to grow talent and drive engagement
* Use data and reporting to evaluate ROI and inform continuous improvement
* Maintain accurate training records and systems across AFRS
What You'll Bring
* Strong understanding of DSAT methodology and its practical application (Essential)
* Experience in training design, delivery, and evaluation
* Ability to achieve SC Clearance (or already hold it)
* Familiarity with the Defence Learning Environment (DLE)
* Proficiency in e-learning platforms and LMS systems
* Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
* Analytical mindset with a user-focused approach to training delivery
* Willingness to travel to Andover and other relevant sites as needed
* Innovative thinking and ability to translate ideas into tangible outcomes
