Are you passionate about supporting learners with diverse needs? Do you have experience designing and delivering learning support strategies that create inclusive environments? Serco is looking for a proactive, knowledgeable, and committed Learning Support Facilitator to join our education team at HMP Ashfield. 

 

 

Key Responsibilities 

 

  • Lead the development and implementation of the Additional Learning Support (ALS) strategy for learners with learning difficulties and/or disabilities (LDD). 
  • Act as the main point of contact for ALS referrals and provide guidance on support planning. 
  • Oversee the use of screening tools during learner induction and deliver staff training on their application. 
  • Ensure support plans are clearly communicated and consistently applied across teaching and support teams. 
  • Develop accessible learner resources and support materials. 
  • Advocate for inclusive practices across the prison education setting. 
  • Monitor ALS effectiveness through data analysis and contribute to strategic reporting. 
  • Attend regional/national SEND meetings to inform and share best practice. 
  • Collaborate with Curriculum Managers and the wider education team to drive quality and compliance. 

 

 

What You'll Need 

 

Essential: 

 

  • Strong knowledge of LDD and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). 
  • Experience supporting learners with LDD, ideally in prison or similar education environments. 
  • Ability to assess needs and develop personalised support plans. 
  • Familiarity with inclusive teaching practices and relevant legislation (e.g. Equality Act 2010). 
  • Experience delivering CPD sessions to build staff capability. 
  • Strong IT, organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills. 

 

Desirable: 

 

  • Working knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice. 
  • Relevant qualification in SEND (or willingness to work towards one). 
  • Experience using ICT tools for ALS delivery. 
  • Leadership experience in promoting inclusive education. 

 

 

Additional Information 

  • Occasional travel may be required to support SEND and Ofsted standards across other prisons.
